Welcome to my new Blog.
I'm Clive Hills, I'm 60 years of age (61 next month). I am disabled (I have no joint in my right leg and cannot stand). I am a wheelchair user. I'm also diabetic (type 2, 25 years now). I had a heart attack in 2013 and consequently have to take medications to repeat to prevent this. Altogether I take approx 16 tablets/pills a day. All are on prescription. I'm grateful to the NHS for saving my life in 2013 and passim. I'm catherised because of an enlarged prostate which the Consultant says it would not be safe to operate on.

My parents were working class as am I. I went to Wadham College Oxford where I read Mathematics and Philosophy.

I live in Hebden Bridge , West Yorkshire in an Extra care home run by Together Housing. I am the youngest resident. The oldest is 104 I believe! I am originally from Crayford, in the London Borough of Bexley. I lived in a house there for 45 years. Originally with my sister, and parents. My sister married and moved away. My parents died first my Dad and then two years later my Mum. I still miss both of them. I carried on living there until 2010 until I moved to West Yorskhire.

I worked in Finance for the London Borough of Greenwich for the first five years of my career. I moved to IT for the same Borough for 10 years until they outsourced me. The later part of my IT career was in the private sect (mostly ISPs, Search Engine companies and a Rail Industry website company).

I retain my interest in computers. I mostly use laptops these days. My preferred operating system is Linux. I use the Fedora linux distribution.

I'm also a keen amateur synthesizer enthuastist.

I like punk/indie/industrial and electronic rock.
I like crime dramas and Sci fi on the TV and in films.
I like reading mainly crime and sci fi but also rock biographies and technical books.

I'm a lifelong socialist I identify as a Trotskyist.
I'm anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-fascist and oppose homophobia and transphobia.

I support LBGTI rights. I have been in two long term relationships with trans women. I identify as bi, but am mainly attracted to women.

I am a member of the Labour Party , I support Jeremy Corbyn (albeit critically). I was a member of the Unison Trade Unison and was a shop steward for a number of years.

In my youth I was a member of the Workers Revolutionary Party. I left because of various disagreements most noticeably their support of Colonel Gaddafi. I was a member of the Editorial Board of their youth weekly 'Keep Left' I was amazed when one article was published in the UK, France, the USA, Peru, Australia , and New Zealand! Wish I still had copies of those editions!

I don't smoke (never have). Do like a drink.

Thanks for reading
Clive
